Maui 2nd grade teachers and their schools are invited to sign up for a free presentation designed to help youngsters make the connection between seeds, the food products we eat and use and the farmers who grow that food.
The 45 minute presentation “Where Would We Be Without Seeds?” brings a live Maui farmer to the classroom to talk about seeds and the food that comes from them in a five part lesson with many visual components.
It is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September through early November 2012 and then again after the holidays from January through March 2013.
Last year more than 50 public, private and charter schools participated in the program sponsored by the Maui County Farm Bureau as part of our ongoing Agriculture in the Classroom series which provides educational programs to Maui students of all ages.
